Natasha Ewa is a 33 year old breast cancer survivor, psychotherapist, poet, photographer and crime junkie who loves to shop. Natasha was diagnosed at age 29 less than 2 months after saying “I do” when her world flipped left side right. Almost 4 years in remission, Natasha strives to focus on how waking up each day is another opportunity to thrive....again! ☀️

What is your cancer diagnosis and how was it discovered?

I discovered a lump after doing my own self examination but when I went to the doctor, there was about 5 months of back and forth before I finally got tested and diagnosed with stage II breast cancer. The diagnosis came only 2 months after my wedding!

What is the biggest piece of advice that you have for newly diagnosed patients?

That you can do everything “right” and still develop breast cancer... no one is exempt... please do self exams and understand the breast tissue is not only within the confines of your actual breasts. My self examination and health-advocacy is what allowed me to begin treatment when it was needed.

What is the most important thing you learned from your cancer experience?

That in fact, it could be me.... even without family history! Also that a lump is NOT the only symptom of breast cancer.

What was the most difficult aspect of organizing your care/community?

Unfortunately, the most difficult part was people close to my family actually accepting that my diagnosis was “real."

Are there products, services, experiences or physicians that you couldn't live without? Tell us more!

I can’t live with my general surgeon... he is DOPE!! Having a doctor and team you trust really changes the entire experience.

Interested in connecting with Natasha?

I'm more than happy to talk with others in the cancer community. My email is zanatasha56@gmail.com and my Instagram handle is @poet_ifrica
