I'm trying to find my dad transportation to and from chemo and radiation. Does anyone know where I can find free or inexpensive rides?

All of these suggestions are great! Another option is to asking your local hospital network if they provide an assistance, they usually do!

Uber is one of the largest transportation providers for cancer patients, they have an entire segment Uber Health dedicated to providing health related ride coverage. Often your hospital will have a partnership with them, or you can buy uber credits directly on our site that you can use yourself or gift to someone else.

Transportation is one of the hardest resources to coordinate for cancer patients and accounts for most of the reasons that people aren't able to start or finish treatments according to their physican's recommendations. Check out our article on 10 free resources for transportation, it has a ton of great suggestions.

Most times your insurance will have a hotline you can call to help get rides. Lack of rides is such a problem for patients that they realize this and are there to help get you in to treatment when you need to!

Does anyone know whether there are volunteer groups that will do driving for you?

The American Cancer Society is the largest provider of free rides for cancer patients. Call 800-227-2345 or visit www.cancer.org, and they can set you up with a volunteer driver in your area, coordinate a ride with another local agency, or refer you to a local resource for more help.
