All of my hair fell out in the shower this week. I'm not sure what to do. I had a moment of sadness, but will get through it. I know it's "just hair" but I feel like my identity is very tied up in it, and I don't want to have to go through the rest of my life with short hair. Sorry for being vain, but I just needed to share how I am feeling right now.

Hey janet, We are all here for you, don't worry. And it's alright to feel like that, but keep going forward as it'll come back again before you even know. Stay strong!

Thank you for sharing this, I especially loved the advice about how losing your hair makes you feel vulnerable. I don't know why losing my hair is affecting me as much as it is, I know it will grow back, but I can't help but just feel ugly and strange and like people will look at me at the thought of losing hair. Glad to know I'm not the only one feeling that way. Thank you.

I don’t think it’s vain at all. My doctor described it to me as feeling vulnerable, and most of us don’t feel comfortable in that state of being. I am two weeks away from my first treatment, so no advice, other than to be kind to yourself! ❤️

Wish someone would have told me what was going to happen earlier. It was so traumatic when all of the hair came off on my pillow

I'm not really a girly girl, but I have to admit, losing my hair really threw me for a loop. It was much harder than I thought it was. Don't worry Gwen, this too shall pass!

Hi Gwen, I totally hear you on this!!! I’m four years out from treatment but I still remember how terrible it was even thinking about losing hair. Hang in there, before you know it you’ll have cute little chemo curls coming in!

Janet- that is so tough. I just finished reading this article and I think it has some good tips: https://www.onevillage.io/resource/cancer-hair-loss-during-chemo?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=organic_share&utm_campaign=hair_loss

Let’s talk about hair loss. I’ve been on Immunotherapy since April. It’s not supposed to make your hair fall out. I’m also now on Levothyroxine for my thyroid, and I have no appetite so I’m not eating much (questionable nutrition). My hair is falling out by the handful daily. I don’t know if I want to get a wig because I hear they are hot, and expensive, and I’m worried about not looking like “me.” I also have NO IDEA how to even go about getting one. My hair is so thin that a short haircut really wouldn’t look right and my hair would still fall out. I don’t know what to do! Any advice? Anyone been in this or a similar position?

I completely understand. I don’t know why but this has been one of the hardest parts of the experience for me. Sending hugs.
