My mom just finished her second round of chemo and is ready to shave her head. Does anyone have any tips on how to make this an easier process for her, both emotionally or physically?

I had my mom's childhood best friend come over and do it for her, she was a lot less sad and looked even as if she was having some fun.

Just being there is the main thing. Having a support group is so important during this time, your mom is lucky to have you cheering her on!

I was tired of falling hair everywhere.. I took scissors and cut 99% off.. I already had a wig that looked like my color and style just shorter... most everyone at work thought I had just got a hair cut till 2 weeks later a few people I told it too... lol.. was fun pulling that one off... lol..only medical people seen my bald head.. one young guy came to escort me to a test ( was in hospital) and I had wig on but had to leave it.. told him I was mad and gonna pull my hair out.. then took off wig.. the look on his face... lol.. we joked about it all way to test & back.. he said made his day better.. lol..

I couldn’t handle seeing my long beautiful hair falling. It was painful to see my hairbrush full of hair. I was hesitant to shave my head. But one day my both boys shaved their heads and my daughter cut her hair 1 foot and donated. That gave me courage to shave. So I let my son and my sister trimmed it. But I never let my husband see my balled head as I was afraid he would laugh or stare. I started wearing stylish scarfs.

I had some girlfriends come over and we made a celebration of it. It’s empowering to be able to make that decision. Afterwards I put on my favorite shirt, bright lipstick, fun earrings, and a tiara. We had a little photo shoot. I felt very loved and beautiful.

Just shaved my wife’s head. Tried to make light of it, reassured her that of all the crap going on just now, it’s one thing that won’t hurt. We’ll save a fortune on shampoo and at least we’re heading for summer not winter. An emotional event, but reassure her it’s temporary. 🤗

What helped me emotionally was having my family take turns shaving it, then I took a turn before my husband finished it. My husband and my girls are my core "fight team" so having them help me take that control was good for my heart. As for physical, don't shave too short because when it continues to fall out it feels very prickly and uncomfortable on clothes collars.
